Connecticut Division 2 Poll
It was a good week for Branford, with wins over Hand and Cheshire. It’ll be an interesting week to come, with games against North Branford and New Milford to give the Hornets a test atop the Division II rankings.
East Catholic had a six-game winning streak snapped, though no embarrassment in a 2-1 loss to Simsbury. It came back with a 9-2 win over Farmington Valley.
Trinity Catholic hit the tough part of its schedule with a 3-0 loss to Darien as Kyle Odierno made over 40 saves. Three of the Crusaders’ next five are against Division One teams.
New Milford had been riding high on a seven-game winning streak that included an eye-opener against North Haven, but that streak ended with a 6-3 loss to Masuk. North Haven, meanwhile, snapped its three-game winless streak, which began with that New Milford loss and included a tie against Cheshire, with a shutout win over Watertown/Pomperaug.
Amity, with ups and downs, remains a team that looks dangerous. It had a pair of one-goal losses this week to Division I teams and beat Scarsdale, N.Y., at home.
Snow messed with several schedules, including Fairfield’s, leaving the defending champs without a game this week. Milford played, though, beating Lyman Hall 6-1 (Ben Lavallee had four points), and Hand beat Guilford 6-3 in a matchup that had been a bitter rivalry last year.
