Western Mass.
– Drew Kelleher‘s three points led Longmeadow past Minnechaug 4-3. The Lancers had lost three out of four (though two of the losses were outside Western Massachusetts); Minnechaug has lost five out of seven after a strong start (though with a stronger schedule).
– South Hadley/Holyoke‘s four-game unbeaten streak ended at Westfield‘s hands with a 4-2 loss. Matt Blascak made 30 saves for the Bombers.
– A late goal by Chicopee Comp earned it a 3-3 tie with Belchertown, perhaps a bit of vengeance for an early-season Orioles win. And Greenfield won its ninth in a row, beating St. Mary’s 3-2.
Central Mass.
– Fitchburg continued its rebound from a midseason losing spell with a 4-2 win over Marlboro. It has wins over previously unbeaten Lunenburg and now the Bulldogs in the past two weeks and is unbeaten in three after losing three in a row.
– Tom Wagner had five points and Dan Baldino added four to lead Lunenburg over Oakmont 8-2. Lunenburg has won four in a row since its 1-0 loss to Fitchburg, while Oakmont has lost three out of four.
– Marc Happy‘s goal with 5:50 left in the first allowed Wachusett to beat Algonquin 1-0.
