Boys Prep Top 15
Lawrence Academy (16-2-0) remains #1 in this latest installment of the HNIB News Boys Prep Top 15. The Spartans played just once, a nailbiting 2-1 win over Belmont Hill. A big week ahead features Thayer (Wednesday), St. Sebastian’s (Friday) and St. Paul’s (Saturday).
#2 Salisbury (16-2-1) also had just one game, a 5-4 win over Trinity Pawling. The Crimson Knights take on Taft Wednesday and them #11 Loomis Chaffee (11-3-4) on Saturday.
A 4-3 OT win over Westminster was the only decision for #3 Avon Old Farms (17-2-0). The Winged Beavers will ready for Gunnery (Wednesday) and Deerfield (Saturday).
#4 Kimball Union (20-5-1) blanked Northfield (6-0) and then rallied for a huge OT win over #13 New Hampton (17-7-2), 7-6 The Wildcats play Andover Wednesday before a rematch with New Hampton Friday and then Holderness on Saturday.
#5 Dexter Southfield (19-3-0) also will see New Hampton (on Wednesday). D-S is coming off wins over Pomfret (3-1) and Andover (7-2).
Nobles (14-4-2) climbs up to #6 after wins over Thayer (4-3) and Tabor (4-1). The Bulldogs, 6-0-1 in their last seven, have Governors Academy (Wednesday) and Milton Academy (Saturday).
#7 Cushing (15-6-3) is up as well this week after big wins over Hoosac and Vermont Academy. The Penguins have weekend games planned with #8 St. Mark’s (15-2-1) on Friday and Canterbury on Saturday.
St. Mark’s won three straight this past week, including a 6-3 decision of #12 St. Sebastian’s (13-5-1) Saturday. Middlesex will be Saturday’s opponent.
Brunswick (17-5-2) drops a bit to #9 after 4-3 setback to Albany Academy Saturday. The Bruins did beat Lawrenceville by that same 4-3 score earlier in the week and are scheduled to play Delbarton (Tuesday), Gunnery (Friday) and Berkshire (Saturday).
#10 Hotchkiss (13-4-1) is now unbeaten in eight (7-0-1) after 3-1 bookend wins over Trinity Pawling and Choate. Wednesday, the Bearcats will see Westminster and then Saturday it will be Taft.
Millbrook (17-7-1) remains firm at #14 as does Tilton (11-5-4) at #15.
