Boys Prep Top 15: Cushing Slides Back Into #1 Spot; Handful Of Key Games This Week

Cushing (19-1-4) will hold down the top spot in this week’s HNIB News Boys Prep Top 15 after a week that saw the Penguins down Winchendon, St. Mark’s and Canterbury.

Another big week will feature Andover on Wednesday, and then a a huge home-and-home with #7 Kimball Union (19-8-1) Friday/Saturday.

Avon Old Farms (16-2-2) slides down to #2. The Winged Beavers were tied up 3-3 by Frederick Gunn and then blanked Deerfield, 5-0. Choate is up on Wednesday, then a key tilt with #9 Salisbury (12-6-4) on Saturday.

#3 Belmont Hill (15-4-3) stays hot after wins over #6 St. Sebastian’s (6-4) and Thayer (4-1). This will be a defining week for BH, which gets #5 Milton (14-4-4) on Wednesday and #4 Nobles (16-2-4) on Friday.

Nobles and Milton played to a 2-2 draw over the weekend. The Bulldogs will face BB&N on Wednesday, while Milton hosts Thayer on Friday.

St. Sebastian’s had a 5-1 win over Lawrence and has Tabor on the docket for Wednesday.

Kimball Union is down a bit this week to #7 after a loss to Andover, 3-2, and a tie with #14 Holderness (15-5-1), 2-2. The Wildcats face Proctor Wednesday in Lakes Region action.

#8 Salisbury (12-6-4) keeps creeping up. The Knights beat #11 Taft (14-7-0) in OT, 3-2, and were knotted up by #10 Loomis Chaffee (11-5-4) 1-1 last week. They are off until the Avon matchup.

Also on the move up is #9 Brunswick (17-9-0). The Bruins knocked off Delbarton (3-2), Frederick Gunn (6-5) and Berkshire (5-1). A rematch with Gunn is set for Friday.

Loomis Chaffee, which did beat Deerfield last week, readies for Westminster on Wednesday.
