Boys Prep: Holt Conference Team Previews – Senior Group Leads NYA

This four-team circuit is up for grabs this winter. The league has one new coach, with Dan Gordon taking over at Pingree.

With 13 seniors on the roster, leadership from that group will be paramount if the Panthers are to have success this winter.

Key holdovers up front for coach Mike Warde are Damon Dulac, Jared Buckner and Clement Delisle-Blais.

Defensive leaders will be Julian Etauri, Mason Parks and Brendan Bolduc. The Panthers also welcome back goaltenders Stefan Kulhanek (from Austria) and Nathan Loisel.

Newcomers looking to step right in are post-grads Andrew Anagnastopoulos and Jonathan Heise, and junior Alexandre Saul.

PINGREE (9-20-0)

Home Rink: Johnson Rink

New head coach Dan Gordon is excited to get going with a fresh start for the program. He feels his has some good firepower returning in the forward lines.

Leading the way offensively for the Highlanders will be the brother tandem of senior Brendan Driscoll (48 pts – a Providence lacrosse commit) and junior Ian Driscoll (46 pts). Senior Paul Duffy and junior Hazen Pike (22 pts) will contribute in a big way. Look for new junior Sam Murray and sophomore Michael Lynch to step right in.

Senior John Crehan and junior Kyle Collins are top returning blue liners. The crew gets a jolt of added depth with the arrival of new junior Joey Silverio and sophomores Cody Plaza and Bryce Bedard.

Junior Cam Brown is a returning goaltender for Pingree.

The Ravens look for improvement after coming off a two-win campaign.

Coach Allie Skelley does return a bunch of experience up front with seniors Will Crowley (13 pts), Dean Simeone and Ryan Tarmey, juniors Alex Leef (11 pts) and Matt Balzano and sophomore John O’Hoins. New sophomore Jacob Ierfino and freshman Michael Patko look to contribute.

Senior Josh Plumb, junior Markus Keller and sophomore Toby Oliveira are back on the Abbey blue line. Freshman Jack Baird comes to the program from the California Golden Bears program.

New junior Nate Hopkins will vie for the starting goaltender’s position.

WORCESTER ACADEMY (6-21-1)

Worcester Academy head coach Bob Lavin says his club will be hungry to build on the experience it gained a year ago.

Offensive production for the Hilltoppers will come from seniors Matt Monopoli (22 pts), Karim Garafulin (17 pts) and Rory White (14 pts), and sophomore Atticus Roop (11 pts). The attack will be bolstered with the additions of post-grads Jac Cordeiro, Ronan Bryant and Mike Gethings, and new junior Michael Boschetto.

On the blue line, senior Joe Morgan and junior Ryan Prewitt will be mainstays. New sophomore Connor Gethings will be a welcome addition.

Gary Demopoulos has been covering prep school hockey for the HNIB News for over 30 years, and has been the editor of the HNIB News since 2005. A former sportswriter and news editor at the Woburn (MA) Daily Times Chronicle, he has been the HNIB News' key reporter for Mens Prep School hockey since 1988, as well as womens hockey, both at the prep school and high school levels. for almost 20 years.
