Boys Prep Top 15
The top five in this week’s HNIB News Boys Prep Top 15 held serve, as the five clubs combined to win all of their games.
Lawrence Academy (11-1-0) holds on to the top spot, after Keller Division wins over Nobles (5-4) and Thayer (6-4), both tough games where the Spartans showed some nice resiliency. They get Milton Academy on Wednesday before a return date Friday with Nobles.
#2 Dexter Southfield (15-1-0) had a banner weekend, posting shutout wins over New Hampton (4-0 and Hill School (7-0). They are off until weekend games with Thayer (Friday) and Brooks (Ssaturday). Dexter could easily be a #1 team.
So to, could Salisbury (12-1-1). The Crimson Knights drubbed Cushing (8-1) and then held off Westminster (5-4) and have not lost since opening day. Salisbury looks ahead to Choate (Monday), Trinity Pawling (Wednesday) and Kent (Saturday).
#4 Avon Old Farms (11-1-0) keeps on winning as well, as the Winged Beavers knocked off Hotchkiss (4-1) and Pomfret (4-2). A key tilt with Kent looms Monday, followed by Northfield Wednesday and Berkshire Saturday.
#5 Kimball Union (14-4-1) blanked St. Paul’s (2-0) in a Lakes Division matchup. and also had a forfeit win over Vermont Academy. This week’s slate?: Deerfield (Wednesday), Brewster Academy (Friday) and Stanstead College (Saturday).
Four of the next five spots feature teams that moved up the rankings, including #6 St. Mark’s (8-1-1, up from 8), #7 St. Sebastian’s (10-3-0, up from 11), #9 Brunswick (11-4-2, up from 10) and #10 Nobles (9-4-1, up from 13).
Phillips Exeter (10-5-1) returns this week at #14 after a big win over rival Phillips Andover.
