Boys Prep Top 15
Despite a pair of losses at the recent True Prep Cup to outside-NEPSAC competition, Kimball Union will remain #1 in this latest HNIB News Boys Prep Top 15.
The Wildcats returned to prep play this week with wins over Vermont Academy (6-2) and St. Paul’s (4-1). KUA is looking at Deerfield on Wednesday.
Just a tick behind this week at #2 is Avon Old Farms (10-1-0). The Winged Beavers exacted revenge on Kent Saturday with a 2-1 win, and also downed Taft (5-1). Northfield is Wednesday’s opponent.
#3 Dexter Southfield (9-4-2) has won four straight since a 1-1-1 showing at the Watkins Tournament, including a come-from-behind win over New Hampton Saturday. They are off until a Friday date with Thayer.
Since falling to Dexter at the Watkins Tournament, #4 Brunswick (8-3-1) has ripped off three straight wins and is off until it plays Debarton Friday.
#5 Cushing (7-1-2) stays put as the Penguins have not been able to. They hope to take on Thayer on Wednesday.
Could #6 Salisbury (7-4-0) be back on track? The Knights won a pair this week which they hope will springboard them to a big run. Choate (Wednesday), Trinity Pawling (Friday) and Kent (Saturday) are on the docket.
#7 Belmont Hill (8-0-2) is up a few spots, fresh off book-end 3-1 wins over Thayer and Governors Academy. BH has a key one scheduled Wednesday with St. Mark’s.
A 6-3 loss to Thayer Saturday drops Nobles (8-1-1) down a few spots this week. A huge game looms Monday with #10 St. Sebastian’s (7-2-1), which had a solid win Saturday over Tabor.
#9 Frederick Gunn (10-5-0) will face Trinity Pawling on Monday.
Rounding out this week’s rankings are #11 Kent (8-5-0), #12 Holderness (9-1-1), #13 St. Mark’s (8-1-1), #14 Loomis Chaffee (7-3-0) and #15 Westminster (6-3-0).
