Boys Prep Hockey Top 15: Despite Deadlocks, Top 3 Remain In Place This Week

The top three teams stay put in this week’s HNIB News Boys Prep Top 15, although each suffered a tie during last week’s action.

#1 Nobles (14-1-2) was fit to be tied in a 3-3 standoff with Rivers, but followed up with a 4-3 win over Keller Division rival St. Sebastian’s. The Bulldogs face a dangerous Thayer squad Wednesday, then Tabor on Friday and Lawrence Academy on Saturday.

#2 Cushing (14-1-4) also had a 3-3 tie, with Northfield Mt. Hermon, before a solid 4-0 win over Exeter. The Penguins have Tilton on Wednesday and Vermont Academy on Friday.

#3 Avon Old Farms (14-2-1) was deadlocked by #8 Loomis Chaffee (10-4-3) 1-1, that result sandwiched by wins over Westminster (7-1) and Choate (4-1). The Winged Beavers have one game this week, facing Westminster again.

Chalk up three more wins for #4 Kimball Union (16-6-0). The Wildcats posted victories over Proctor (4-1), Exeter (4-1) and Tilton (7-4). Three more game are on tap this week with Northfield (Wednesday), Holderness (Friday) and New Hampton (Saturday).

Up a rung to #5 this week is Milton Academy (12-4-2). In its lone result this past week, Milton took care of St. George’s 6-2. A key game is on the docket for Wednesday against St. Sebastian’s. The Mustangs will face Roxbury Latin on Saturday.

#6 Belmont Hill (10-4-3) continues its solid play, defeating Brooks (9-0) and St. Paul’s (4-2). It is a three-game week for BH with Lawrence Academy (Wednesday), Andover (Friday) and Rivers (Saturday).

#7 St. Mark’s (13-3-0) showed its offensive might in wins over Middlesex (8-0) and Academie St. Louis (8-3). The Lions will be busy with Roxbury Latin (Wednesday), Groton (Friday) and St. Sebastian’s (Saturday).

Loomis also had a win over Phillips Andover. The Pelicans face Williston on Wednesday.

St Sebastian’s (11-5-2) stays in place at #9. The Arrows did have a 4-3 win over Thayer.

#10 Frederick Gunn School (14-6-2) did fall to #11 Salisbury (10-6-3) before a big win over Hoosac. The Highlanders have Millbrook Wednesday and Taft on Friday. The Crimson Knights face off with Trinity-Pawling on Wednesday.

Back-to-back losses to Thayer (4-0) and Lawrence Academy (4-3) drop Tabor (9-4-4) down to #12.
