There is a new #1 team in this latest HNIB News Boys Prep Top 15, as Cushing (11-0-3) has moved to the top of the ladder.

The Penguins are currently on a 10-game winning streak and are the other team in prep hockey that has not lost yet. A couple of tough games await Cushing this week in Thayer (Wednesday) and Loomis Chaffee (Saturday).

Just as hot as we enter mid-January is #2 Nobles (12-1-1). The Bulldogs host both Andover (Friday) and #7 St. Sebastian’s (Saturday) as they look to continue their success.

#3 Avon Old Farms (10-2-0) dropped back-to-back games to Taft and Hotchkiss, before a 4-1 win over Kent. The Winged Beavers welcome Northfield (Wednesday) and Berkshire (Saturday) to campus this week.

#4 Kimball Union (11-6-0) has won four straight, after a pair of early January losses to Culver and Mt. St. Charles Academy at the True Prep Cup. The Wildcats are at Deerfield on Wednesday and host Stanstead College Saturday.

Another team on a roll is #5 St. Mark’s (10-2-0). The Lions have won four straight, including a 5-2 win over #6 Tabor (9-2-3). A key game is on tap Wednesday at Belmont Hill.

The Seawolves travel to Exeter on Wednesday and host Belmont Hill Saturday.

St. Sebastian’s (9-3-1), which tied Tabor 3-3 on Saturday, faces Andover (Wednesday), Middlesex (Friday) and Governor’s Academy (Saturday).

#8 Milton Academy (9-4-2) hosts Lawrence Academy Wednesday and is at Pomfret Saturday. The Mustangs blanked Governor’s Academy (4-0) on Friday.

Taft (9-3-0) enters this latest rankings at #9. The Rhinos handed Avon its first loss of the season, and also has recent wins over Choate (9-3) and Brunswick (4-1), although they did get beat by Westminster last week. Looking ahead, Taft gets Loomis Chaffee (Wednesday) and Canterbury (Saturday).

#10 Salisbury (7-5-2) is scuffling a bit, having gone 0-3-1 in its last four games (although one those losses was 3-2 in OT to Cushing). The Knights look to right the ship this week against Choate (Monday) and Trinity-Pawling (Wednesday).

Westminster (6-4-0) is back in the Top 15 after a couple of big wins over Taft and Salisbury.
