Returning from holiday break, #1 Avon Old Farms picked up where it left off, earning wins over Taft (4-1), Hotchkiss (6-1) and a big 3-1 win over Kent on Saturday. Road trips to Northfield (Wednesday) and Berkshire (Saturday) are on this week’s docket.

#2 Kimball Union (16-2-0) flexed its offensive muscles this week, scoring 28 goals in Lakes Region wins over Vermont Academy, Tilton and St. Paul’s. The Wildcats host Deerfield on Wednesday.

#3 Holderness is still perfect on the season at 12-0-0. The Bulls beat St. Paul’s (7-3) and then notched a pair of wins over Proctor. They will be challenged Monday by New Hampton and also will see NYA (Wednesday) and Governors Academy (Friday).

Red-hot Brunswick (15-1-2) is up to #4 this week. The Bruins have played six January games and outscored opponents by a 34-12 margin. And that is coming off a Belmont Hill/Nichols Tournament title over the holiday week. Up next is Hoosac on Saturday.

#5 Cushing (13-2-0) is back on track after solid wins this week over Salisbury and Deerfield. The Penguins, who did suffer a loss to Lawrence Academy at the Watkins Tournament, get Thayer Wednesday and Winchendon on Friday.

#6 Salisbury (8-4-0) did have a win over Deerfield (8-5) and also edged Westminster 5-4. The Knights have Choate Monday, then Trinity Pawling on Friday and a big one with Kent on Saturday.

Speaking of Kent, the Lions (9-4-1) check in at #7. They also had a loss to Loomis Chaffee, 5-4 and wins over Millbrook and Trinity Pawling. Kent is at Hotchkiss on Wednesday.

#8 Loomis Chaffee (9-3-0) continues to impress. The Pelicans rebounded from a loss to Deerfield with a 7-1 win Saturday over Hotchkiss. They have Taft (Wednesday) and Westminster (Friday) this week.

Belmont Hill climbs into the top ten at #9, sandwiching wins over St. Sebastian’s and Governors Academy around a loss to Thayer. They travel to St. Mark’s on Wednesday and then are at Tabor Saturday.

Nobles (8-4-2) closes out the Top Ten. The Bulldogs have had recent wins over St. Sebastian’s and Thayer, and a loss to Lawrence Academy, who they play again on Friday. Also ahead is Phillips Andover on Saturday.
