Boys Prep Hockey – This Week’s Top 15: Kimball Union Takes Over #1; Wildcats To Face #3 Cushing Twice This Weekend

There’s a new top-ranked club in this latest installment of the HNIB News Boys Prep Top 15.

That would be Kimball Union (26-3-0). The Wildcats swept both of their showdowns with Holderness, winning a shootout (7-4) and a defensive battle (2-0). They also had solid wins over Phillips Andover (6-3) and New Hampton (5-4).

All eyes will be on next weekend when KUA takes on #3 Cushing (22-2-0) in a home-and-home series Friday and Saturday.

#2 Avon Old Farms (18-1-1) finally got beat, losing to Frederick Gunn 4-3 in OT, that coming before a 3-2 win over Deerfield. The Winged Beavers have Choate on Wednesday and then a key battle with Salisbury on Saturday.

Cushing continued its solid play, highlighted by a 4-3 OT win over Brunswick. Prior to seeing KUA, #13 Andover provides the opposition Wednesday.

It’s a big week for #4 Salisbury (15-4-1). The Knights take on Brunswick Wednesday before the showdown with Avon Old Farms.

#5 Holderness (19-3-0) looks to shake off the losses to KUA with a three-game week: Winchendon (Wednesday), Vermont Academy (Friday) and St. Paul’s (Saturday).

#6 Brunswick (22-5-2) did have wins over Frederick Gunn (4-0) and Berkshire (5-3). The Bruins have their sights set on Wednesday’s battle with Salisbury.

After wins over Belmont Hill (4-2) and Lawrence Academy (6-3), St Sebastian’s (16-6-1) climbs up to #7. The Arrows look ahead to Tabor on Wednesday, and Governor’s on Saturday.

Nobles (13-6-3) is at #8 after its most recent result, a 5-2 win over Milton Academy. The Bulldogs have BBN on Wednesday, and then #9 Belmont Hill (15-8-2) on Friday night.

Belmont Hill posted solid win over Thayer and BB&N and has Milton on Wednesday before taking on Nobles.

Kent (13-7-1) rounds out this week’s Top 10. The Lions will see Hotchkiss on Wednesday and Canterbury on Saturday.
