Vermont Division 2 State Final: Woodstock completes memorable season (22-0-1) with championship

DIVISION TWO

(at Gutterson Fieldhouse)

No. 3 Lyndon Institute (14-8-0) turned in its best performance in its third shot against No. 1 Woodstock (22-0-1) this season on March 19 but that didn’t stop the Wasps from completing a State Championship campaign upon their return from one year in D1 with a 4-0 win. The title is Woodstock’s first since 200.

Steve Townley
Woodstock

Freshman goalie Sawyer Goodwin kept Lyndon in it with a 37-save performance.

Woodstock went to work following a scoreless first period. Cullen McCarthy deposited the rebound of Steve Townley’s initial shot midway through the second period for what stood as the GWG. Tom Bissaillon and Andrew Gubbins also scored before the end of the period, essentially sealing the deal.

Warren Coates made it 4-0 midway through the final period. Townley had a pair of assists. Woodstock goalie Henry Greene had 17 saves before exiting late in the game.

Woodstock eliminated No. 5 Milton in the semifinals while Lyndon bounced past No. 7 Northfield.
