Rhode Island D3 Final: OT goal give Mount Hope two-game sweep for title

MOUNT HOPE players celebrate the Rhode Island D3 state title, a two-game sweep of Pilgrim.

Mount Hope swept the best-of-three Division 3 Rhode Island boys hockey state championship, beating Pilgrim, 5-4, in sudden death overtime in Game 2.

Ryan Cordeiro’s goal in the overtime gave his team its first hockey title in seven years.

Mt. Hope won by the same score in the first game.

Pilgrim was a little more than a minute from evening the series when Mt. Hope’s Cameron Rancourt sent the game into overtime on his second score of the night. Rancourt was named the tournament MVP.

Mt. Hope netminder Kyle Depoy got the win in net

Pilgrim’s Ty Morgan, Mike Sollenberger and Jack Clements (two) also scored, while Mt. Hope’s Jack Dolan and Keegan Hanley also had goals.
