Rhode Island D2 Final Series: Barrington rallies to win Game 3, takes series over Coventry

Barrington won the 2018 Division 2 Rhode Island boys hockey state championship with a 4-2 win over Coventry in Game 3 of the best-of-three series last night at Meehan Auditorium in Providence.

The Eagles trailed, 2-1, but scored three goals in the final half of the final period to ice the victory.

Owen Gordon, Dominic Robidoux and tournament MVP Luke Rudman had the goals in that decisive third period.

Coventry goalie Thomas Julian again was solid for the runners-up, finishing Games 2 and 3 with more than 70 saves combined.

Barrington’s Josh Roy also scored, giving the winners a 1-0 lead.

Patrick Egan scored two goals for Coventry, the second giving his team a 2-1 edge on a power play in the third period.

Matthew Hosey earned the win in net for Barrington.
