Mass. Girls Division 2 Poll
Wellesley (13-2-3) took over as the #1 team last week and continues to hold that spot in this week’s HNIB News Massachusetts Girls D2 Top 10. The Raiders tied D1 Arlington (2-2) and had a win over Weymouth (7-1).
They close out their regular season this week with games against Natick (Wednesday) and Newton North (Saturday).
Canton (11-2-3) followed a tough 1-0 loss to D1 Franklin with a 2-1 win over Mansfield/Oliver Ames and is #2 this week. The Bulldogs face a good Plymouth team (Monday), have Stoughton (Tuesday) and then take on D1 power Duxbury Saturday.
#3 Notre Dame Academy (9-5-1) edged past Ursuline (2-1) and fell to D1’s #1 team Austin Prep 4-0 on Saturday. A key game looms Wednesday with a hot Milton team. The Cougars then face Marshfield Thursday.
#4 Archbishop Williams (11-4-1) beat Marblehead (3-2) in its only action of the week. The Bishops have a tough week, with Dennis-Yarmouth Wednesday and St Mary’s Saturday.
With Saturday’s game against Needham postponed, a win over Algonquin/Hudson was #5 Natick‘s (10-3-2) only result of the week. The Redhawks also have a tough week. After taking on Wellesley, they will see undefeated and D1 #5 Shrewsbury on Saturday.
#6 Milton (11-4-3) is red-hot, outscoring its last four opponents to the tune of 25-1. The Wildcats will play Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake Saturday after Wednesday’s Notre Dame battle.
#7 Westwood (11-6-2) had a tie Saturday with #9 Dennis-Yarmouth (11-4-2). The Wolverines have Dedham (Wednesday) and Needham (Friday).
It was a tough week for #8 Winchester (8-6-2), which tied Reading (3-3) and fell to Belmont (5-1). It doesn’t get any easier, with Arlington on the schedule Wednesday before Woburn on Saturday.
The Dolphins also had a 6-1 win over Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake. Wednesday’s game with Archies is their only action of the upcoming week.
Matignon (9-7-1) is back in the rankings at #10. The Warriors blanked Arlington Catholic (7-0) and are set to take on HPNA (Monday) and Oakmont (Friday).
