Massachusetts Girls D2 Quarterfinals: Wellesley, Archbishop Williams, Algonquin advance

* Top-seeded Wellesley moved on to the semifinals with a 6-1 win over Norwell. This was a 2-1 game into the third period before the Raiders pulled away with four goals. Emily Rourke and Katie Hawkinson finished with two goals apiece, while Phoebe Lawrence  and Bliss Vernon had one each. Casey Ward scored for Norwell.

* Wellesley’s opponent in Monday’s semifinal will be #13 Algonquin/Hudson, which got past Dennis-Yarmouth, 3-2. Ava Domolky had a pair of goals to pace the T-Hawks, while Julianne Sacco had the other. Maeve Terrio and Summer Walsh had goals for the Dolphins.

* Third-seeded Archbishop Williams blanked Natick 2-0, making a couple of early goals by Mackenzie Heath and Maggie Leonard stand up. The Bishops will now face second-seeded Canton in the semifinal round.

A former sportswriter and news editor at the Woburn (MA) Times Chronicle, he has been the HNIB News' key reporter for womens hockey, both at the prep school and high school levels.
