There’s a new top dog this week in the HNIB News Massachusetts D2 Boys Top 15. With Canton’s loss Saturday to Oliver Ames, Danvers (15-1-0), our preseason #1, takes over the top spot.

The Falcons had wins this week over Saugus (8-2) and Gloucester (6-3) to finish a perfect 12-0 in NEC league play. They have an interesting non-league matchup Monday with Masconomet, then face MVC/Dual County foes Chelmsford (Wednesday) and Tewksbury (Saturday).

Quietly, #2 Lowell Catholic (9-4-1) has been going about its business. The defending state champs blanked John Paul II (8-0) in their only action of the week. The Crusaders take on Lowell HS on Wednesday, then host D1 power St. Mary’s on Saturday.

Stoneham (11-3-2) is up to #3 after Saturday’s impressive 3-2 win over D1 heavy Burlington. It did come on the heels of a loss to Melrose (3-1). The Spartans have league games against Wilmington (Wednesday) and Wakefield (Saturday).

Canton (11-2-4) drops to #4 after Saturday’s loss. The Bulldogs did have a big win over Franklin earlier in the week and will not that loss affect them too much. They get right back into things this week against Foxboro (Monday), then have their annual battle with #5 Lincoln-Sudbury (12-4-1) on Saturday.

The Warriors followed up a 5-5 tie with Methuen with a win over Tewksbury (3-2). Having already clinched the MVC/Dual County II league title, they will see Waltham on Wednesday. So, a big week for L-S.

#6 Westwood (11-4-2) made it five straight wins with a solid win Saturday over Medfield (5-1). The Wolverines have a crucial non-league test this Saturday against #8 Lynnfield (10-4-1).

#7 Masconomet (8-4-2) edged Lynnfield Saturday (3-2) to move up a few rungs. The Chieftains look for success Monday against top-ranked Danvers, then have Peabody (Wednesday) and Westford Academy (Saturday).

Lynnfield did get a big win over Triton (3-2) and will face North Reading (Tuesday) before seeing Westwood.

#9 North Andover (10-5-2) dropped its game Saturday against D1 Medford. The Scarlet Knights look to rebuild some momentum this week with games against Concord-Carlisle (Wednesday) and Methuen (Friday).

Idle Beverly (9-5-4) slips into the top ten. The Panthers look ahead to Revere/Malden on Wednesday.

Medfield (10-4-2) drops some to #11 after the loss to Westwood. The Warriors will face Holliston on Friday.

Spots 12-15 remain the same this week: #12 Scituate (9-6-2), #13 Medway (12-5-0), #14 Plymouth South (13-3-1) and #15 Boston Latin (8-5-2).
