If this past week is any indication, it is time to take your seat and buckle in for what should be a wild and crazy post-season in both Division 2 North and Division 2 South.

Of the 15 teams in the most recent rankings, nine suffered a loss this past week. That includes former #1 Danvers, which after sewing up the NEC North with a perfect 12-0 league mark, allowed six goals in three straight games, losing two and rallying to tie one.

When the smoke cleared, Stoneham (13-3-2) takes over as the new #1 in this week’s HNIB News Massachusetts D2 Boys Top 15. The Spartans actually won both of their games, beating Wilmington (4-2) and Wakefield (5-1). Remaining Games: Shawsheen (Wednesday), Bishop Fenwick (Friday).

#2 Canton (13-2-4) also won both of its games, over Foxboro (8-1) and Lincoln-Sudbury (2-1) to move back up. Remaining Games: Medfield (Tuesday), Coyle Cassidy or Boston Latin (Thursday).

#3 Lowell Catholic (10-5-1) officially qualified for the post-season with a 6-2 win over Lowell, then lost a three-goal lead and fell to D1 heavy St Mary’s (6-5). Remaining Games:  Sandwich (Monday), Oliver Ames or North Reading (Tuesday), St. Bernard’s (Wednesday), St. Joseph (Friday).

After the tough week, Danvers (15-3-1) falls to #4. The Falcons have this last week of the regular season to get their mojo back for the post-season run. Remaining Games: St. John’s Prep (Monday), North Reading (Friday).

#5 Lincoln-Sudbury (12-6-1) stays put, even after losing twice, to Waltham (2-0) and Canton. Remaining Games: Malden Catholic (Monday), Shrewsbury (Wednesday).

#6 Lynnfield (11-4-2) had a nice win Saturday over Westwood (4-1), after tying up North Reading (5-5). Remaining Games: Pentucket (Tuesday), Gloucester (Wednesday), Medfield (Friday).

#7 Masconomet (9-5-3) tied Danvers (6-6), downed Peabody (7-2), and fell to D1 Westford Academy (5-2). Remaining Games: Amesbury (Monday), Newburyport (Wednesday), Haverhill or Triton (Friday).

The loss to Lynnfield cooled off #8 Westwood (11-5-2). The Wolverines look to get things cranked up again. Remaining Games: Ashland (Monday), Oliver Ames (Thursday).

#9 Beverly (10-5-4) beat Revere/Malden in its only action. Remaining Games: Winthrop (Monday).

Medfield (10-4-3) closes out this week’s top 10, tying Holliston (2-2) its last time out. Remaining Games: Canton (Monday), Coyle Cassidy or Boston Latin (Wednesday), Lynnfield (Friday).

Rounding out this week’s Top 15: #11 Scituate (10-7-2), #12 Plymouth South (14-3-2), #13 North Andover (11-6-2), #14 Boston Latin (10-6-2), #15 Medway (13-6-0).
