Despite a setback to D1 ranked opponent Arlington, Wellesley (2-1-0) remains #1 in this week’s HNIB News Mass. Girls D2 Top 10. The Raiders followed that loss with a solid win over Shrewsbury. They are off until they take on D1’s top team – Austin Prep – on December 31.
Westwood (3-0-1) is up a spot to #2, coming off a 2-2 tie with unbeaten foe Needham. The Wolverines will participate in this week’s Canton Ice House Invitational, where, after a Thursday first round game with Milton, they could see #3 Canton (4-0-0) in Saturday’s final round.
The Bulldogs have been solid so far, allowing just three goals in four games. Their first round game has them facing Medfield/Norton.
#4 Notre Dame Academy (3-0-0) has a big win over Braintree on its resume already. The Cougars have a pair of upcoming games with ranked opponents, seeing Natick on Wednesday and Winchester on Saturday.
Dennis-Yarmouth (4-0-0) roars into the this week’s rankings at #5. The Dolphins picked up a huge win over #6 Archbishop Williams (3-2-0), as well as a solid decision over Barnstable, to show they mean business this year. They get Norwell on Saturday.
The Bishops host Whitman-Hanson/Silver Lake on Saturday.
#7 Algonquin/Hudson (4-1-0) suffered its first loss of the season Saturday to D1 opponent Franklin. A rematch with the Panthers looms Wednesday for the T-Hawks, who will also see Natick on Saturday this week.
Natick (1-1-1) is at #8 this week. The Redhawks had a nice 3-3 tie with D1 power Shrewsbury on Saturday. A big week is on tap with two ranked opponents.
#9 Matignon may only be 1-2 to start the season, but the losses were to Austin Prep and St. Mary’s, the top two teams in Division 1. The Warriors will be tested this week with Boston Latin (Wednesday) and either Braintree or Andover (Thursday) at the Boston Latin Invitational.
Unbeaten Winchester (3-0-2) moves into the #10 spot. The Sachems look ahead to Notre Dame on Saturday.
