Through the first few weeks of the season, Brooks (6-0-1) has been as good as advertised, and keeps its top ranking in this week’s HNIB News Girls D2 Prep Top 10. The only blemish on the record is a tie with D1 Phillips Exeter (a game the Big Red won in a shootout).

Things won’t get any easier, as Brooks returns from break to face Rivers January 5, then will see D1 powers Andover and Tabor in succession the following week.

Defending champion Vermont Academy is showing it won’t be easy to wrest away the title.  The Wildcats are 5-1-1 if you include three wins over club teams. They are back n January 4th facing off against Lakes Region foe Holderness.

#3 Rivers (5-1-0) looked impressive in taking the title at the Dexter Southfield Tournament, its only loss to date to D1 #1 Tabor. Be sure the Red Wings will be ready for Brooks to kick off the new year.

#4 Worcester Academy (7-1-0) ripped off three impressive wins at the Watkins Tournament after an opening loss to Deerfield. The Highlanders return to face St. Mark’s (January 4) and Middlesex (January 5).

#5 St. George’s  (3-2-2) is off until a January 5 matchup with Gunnery, a team it tied in early December. The Dragons also own a win over Thayer.

Greenwich Academy (4-3-1) took two out of three at the Howard Tournament, and also owns wins over Canterbury and Gunnery. Next up for the #6 Gators is January 5 matchup with Vermont Academy.
