Girls Prep D2 Poll
Everyone in the top seven stayed exactly where they were last week in this latest HNIB News Girls D2 Prep Poll. Time will tell if this last week of the regular season brings any change.
#1 Worcester Academy (18-3-4) posted shutout wins over Winchendon (4-0) and Holderness (3-0). The Hilltoppers finish the regular season with Greenwich Academy (Wednesday) and then Canterbury (Saturday).
#2 Proctor (23-5-1) closed out its regular season slate in a big way, downing Rivers (2-1) Saturday. The Hornets also blanked Hebron (5-0). They will be well-rested for tournament play.
Wins over Governors Academy (7-0) and Groton (4-3) came after a loss to D1 Milton (5-2) for #3 St. George’s (13-6-1). The Dragons have St. Paul’s on Wednesday, and then Middlesex Saturday.
#4 Brooks (15-7-1) knocked off Groton (3-1) and Middlesex (4-1) and played well in a 3-0 loss Saturday to ranked D1 Tabor. St. Mark’s will be a tough game on Wednesday, followed by Governors Academy on Saturday.
Prior to its loss to Proctor, #5 Rivers (11-7-1) did beat Milton Academy (1-0) and Governors (4-1). Two tough games remain: Lawrence Academy (Wednesday) and Southfield (Friday).
#6 Canterbury (16-5-2) edged Millbrook (2-1) and then came up short Saturday against Winchendon (1-0). The Saints have a three-game final week, seeing Berkshire (Monday), Gunnery (Friday) and Worcester Academy (Saturday).
#7 Southfield (11-10-2) was shutout by D1 heavies New Hampton (2-0) and Tabor (3-0) before beating Berwick (3-2). The team is off until Friday’s tilt with Rivers.
Despite the loss to Southfield, Berwick (14-8-0) re-emerges in the #8 spot. The Bulldogs had shutout wins over Winsor (9-0) and Pingree (7-0) and have finished their regular season.
