Vermont Division 2 Top 5
Odds are the rest of the division likely wishes No. 1 Woodstock had remained in Division One. The Wasps wound up an unbeaten regular season by defeating Missisquoi, 4-1, and Burlington, 5-0. The Wasps, bounced in the D1 playdowns last winter, rank as the favorite in D2 this winter.
No. 2 Mt. Mansfield defeated Colchester, 5-0, and Milton, 2-1, and will be aiming to better its quarterfinal showing of a year ago.
It’s been a solid campaign for No. 3 Lyndon Institute, also a quarterfinalist last season. It closed with wins against Northfield, 4-1, and defending State Champion North Country, 4-2.
Whether or not No. 4 Harwood can replicate its run to the title game is an open question. The Highlanders defeated St. Johnsbury but lost to Milton, 2-0, in the final week.
No. 5 Milton also reached the quarterfinals last winter. The Yellowjackets split games this week, falling to Mt. Mansfield, 2-1, and shutting out Harwood, 2-0.
