Wire to wire, Woodstock Academy was the No. 1 team in the HNIB News Connecticut Division III rankings. The Centaurs won the CIAC championship in only their fourth varsity season, dropping only one game to Division III opponents and earning key wins among teams from higher divisions.

That one loss was to No. 2 Hall/Southington, which played a tough schedule that prepared the Warrior Knights for a postseason run that had them tied with the Centaurs in the third period of the state final. They beat No. 3 WMRP along the way, avenging two regular-season losses to the Eagles.

No. 4 Housatonic/Northwestern had its own ups and downs with some key wins, particularly early, like one over No. 5 Newtown, a team disqualified from the CIAC playoffs for going over the limit on majors and misconducts but the tournament champion of the toughest Division III league, the SCC/SWC. It beat No. 6 Lyman Hall/HK/Coginchaug in that conference final.

No. 7 Tri-Town and the No. 8 Redhawks both had big wins and good runs during the season and won their first-round state playoff games. So did No. 9 Trinity Catholic, beating No. 10 Masuk.
