The coveted eight-team field in the Boys Prep Elite Tournament is rounding into shape as the regular season enters its final week.

Rivers (25-1-2), won three more games, outscoring St. Mark’s, Exeter and Middlesex by a 12-2 margin, to remain in the #1 spot in this week’s HNIB News Boys Prep Top 15. Remaining Games: Brooks (Wednesday).

Salisbury (21-1-1) sneaks back into the #2 spot, after wins over Kent (4-2) and Avon Old Farms (2-1). Remaining Games: Hotchkiss (Wednesday), Canterbury (Saturday).

Hot #3 Dexter Southfield (18-4-2) continues to roll with wins over Berwick (4-1), Winchendon (5-3) and Kents Hill (5-1). Remaining Games: New Hampton (Monday), St. Paul’s (Friday).

#4 Kimball Union (25-5-2) looks like it is back in form after wins over Proctor (5-1) and Cushing (4-1) and a Sunday tie with Shattuck St. Mary’s (3-3). Remaining Games: Lakes Region Tournament (Friday/Saturday).

#5 Milton Academy (17-3-1) saw its winning streak snapped with a loss to surging Thayer. The Mustangs also dumped Governors Academy (8-1) and Belmont Hill (2-1). Remaining Games: Thayer (Wednesday), Nobles (Saturday).

#6 Phillips Exeter (24-4-1) sandwiched wins over Northfield (2-0) and Deerfield (4-0) around a loss to #1 Rivers. Remaining Games: Winchendon (Wednesday), Andover (Saturday).

A first Elite Tournament bid in sight, #7 Northfield (22-4-3) bounced back from the loss to Exeter with wins over Loomis Chaffee (2-1) and Choate (4-3). Remaining Games: Andover (Wednesday), St. Paul’s (Saturday).

#8 Cushing (19-8-1) has a big three-game week and may need to win out to get into the Elite Tournament. The Penguins downed Andover (9-5) and fell to KUA (4-1). Remaining Games: New Hampton (Wednesday), St. Mark’s (Friday), Governors Academy (Saturday).

#9 Winchendon (16-5-4) split its week, beating Holderness (6-1) and falling to Dexter Southfield (5-3). Remaining Games: Exeter (Wednesday), Williston (Friday).

New Hampton (19-10-3) creeps into the Top 10 after wins over Vermont Academy (2-1) and Proctor (5-1). Remaining Games: Dexter Southfield (Monday), Cushing (Wednesday).

Keep an eye on #11 Thayer (15-9-1). The red-hot Tigers have now won nine straight games.
